This API supports a subset of the CCR (Continuity of Care Record) standard, as described here. Your client application can use the Health Data API to create new medical records, request a list of medical records and query for medical records that match particular criteria. According to the documentation, Google is opening up their database by giving developers the ability to create and read users' medical records -- but don't worry, in order for an someone to get your information, you must explicitly grant them access.
